When I’m not dealing with front-end web drama, I'm stressing over verb conjugations and grammar. Yup, I’m a language enthusiast.
I used to think that building a website was techy-exclusive only. Boy was I wrong! When I was introduced to WordPress in 2015, I was hooked!
I’m not a certified web designer, let me just put it out there. When I first started, I knew nothing about a page builder plugin or how powerful it can be.
After that, I feel like I can create whatever design I have in mind and not be restricted by the theme I use 🤩
Or so I thought! Sadly, my skill isn’t at the maximum level yet but it’s getting there.
I’ve been building demo websites as a practice ever since. When I look at them, I always say ‘That took me days to do it, now it’s easy peasy’.
They are proof of my tenacity and I couldn’t be more satisfied and prouder 💃
Being a minimalist in real life obviously affects my online work because I love creating simple yet attractive designs. You know the whole white space, less visual noise and whatnot.
If you like simplicity, great! I can do not-so-minimalist design too. Check out the demo.
Do you want your site/ blog to be known for its content or design? That’s what I asked myself when I built mine. I always emphasize the content first and design later.
People visit your site for information and not ‘site-seeing’. It’s not wrong to have a fancy and flashy design. Depending on the type of site it could distract them away from the purpose.
To avoid being plain and dull adding a bit of animation here and there would suffice 🙂
In 2016, I had the opportunity to try creating an app. I built two personal apps with the software I used, an app version of one of my websites and a member-only gallery app.
One of the features I used was the push notification where you can send notifications, promotions and/or updates about anything straight to your customer’s phone, which was the best of all.
I had fun doing it, but I’ve stopped. I guess I like building websites more.
Don’t be afraid to say you don’t know how to do certain things. It’s not a weakness but an opportunity to grow and learn.
One step at a time. That’s how you become the best.
Be confident but humble
